My name is Lindsey
Davies – welcome to
Ranalagh Gundogs.

Being still young
when my Scottish
parents moved south,
most of my childhood
and formative years
were spent growing
up in West Sussex.

I had always wanted
a dog and it wasn’t
long before I had
‘Chuck’, a RSPCA
rescue ‘lab-cross’,
with a definite mind
of his own!

At this time I was also fortunate to forge a
life long friendship with the well known
Champion family, whose hunting pedigree
goes back generations.

Jack Champion was Huntsman for the Old
Surrey and Burstow Hunt for 38 seasons and
I spent much of my spare time and school
holidays at the Hunt Kennels with the hounds
and around the horses.

Being close to someone as experienced and enthusiastic as Jack, together with
my friendship with his sons and daughters, who farmed and ran in ‘Point to Points’,
developed and encouraged my own enjoyment for hunting. I loved watching the
hounds work and this ultimately led to my passion of training gundogs.

Unfortunately my first Labrador ‘Ben’ (FTCh Palgrave
Quin ex FTCh Veration Viking Bitch)
was too competitive
to Field Trial so I picked-up with him on several local
shoots for many years.

Hatchfield Moss (FTCh Tasco Broomtip of Carnochway
ex FTCh Lettermore Tide of Hatchfield)
was my first
‘trialling dog’. ‘Moss’ (left) won his first Novice Field Trial
at 2 years old and a CoM in his first 2 Day Open Stake
in Leicestershire and ran with credit in Scottish trials.

Kenzed Tara, ‘Sasha’ (FTCh Lafayette Tolley
ex Strammers Wasp)
, is now retired from
trialling but is still a great picking-up dog and a
good ‘schoolmistress’ for youngsters coming on.
Watching her they learn to be steady and hunt
like a hoover. ‘Sasha’ (right) won her Novice Trial
(Cambridgeshire Field Trial Society) at Black
Notley, a notoriously bad scenting ground, and
ran with credit in 2 Day Open Stakes.

In 2002 ‘Sasha’ also won a ‘Save the Children’ heat,
obtaining 100 out of 100 points, so qualifying for the
finals at Chatsworth.

She has had over 20 Field Trial awards and many Open
Working Test wins and has been a delight to run, being
extremely steady and a joy to watch hunting game.

With outstanding working attributes and their affable
temperament, being good with children and livestock,
Ranalagh Gundogs would also make ideal family pets.
